Epicurious App Reviews

Used to be good

Completely useless. No matter what recipe I click on it takes me to a recipe for fried eggs.

Update problems

Terrible app. It used to be great. First it was unusable for months. Every single recipe it gave me was for Canadian bacon with eggs and blue cheese, EVERY SINGLE RECIPE linked to that one. Now its been updated, it worked fine for 10 minutes, now? Search for Hors doeurves? No recipes. Search for Christmas? No recipes. Search for Appetizers? No recipes. Perhaps the fault is mine for using obscure search terms?? You desperately need a new app developer.

Should be better

Although the photography and recipes are decent, this app lacks basic up to date functionality. Leave one letter out of an exotic ingredient? No matches. No "did you mean" suggestions l, just "sorry, youre out of luck. Reviews are repeated--if a recipe has 20 reviews, chances are it really only has 10 and theyre just shown twice. This is the kind of thing that really shouldnt be happening in 2015, and it detracts from the quality of the app. I find myself turning to other recipe sources more than Epicurious these days.

Constantly crashes

Love recipes from BA and Gourmet but this app is barely usable. It crashes ~75% of the time either during startup or when trying to open a recipe. Other times is will just freeze on a black screen. Its crazy that Conde Nast cant fix these issues and create a functional app.

Flawed app but functional

First the good news - you can access the Epicurious database through the app. Now the problems. Even though it is 2015 the developers cant figure out how to use a fuzzy search to deal with spelling errors. This is a real issue when finding recipes for uncommon foods. If you miskey and search you cant correct the search on the not found page but have to go back to the home page. Once you find one you like if you want to read the reviews you can only get the first ten or so. Then they loop over and over. I use the reviews for improvement suggestions so this makes the app fairly worthless. Best to simply use the website and avoid this hot mess.

Needs Repair

For the past few months the app crashes as soon as the recipe comes up. I have deleted it and now use the Food Network app.

Shuts down sporadically

I love epicurious.com. This app is just ok. Pics dont load, reviews are doubled up. I have been successful in finding recipes, however it was an annoying process.

Worse than 1 star!

This app is useless! It keeps crashing!

Terrible

A waste of time. It does not work. Search does not work. The links dont work. A very frustrating experience.

Doesnt display reviews correctly

Repeats reviews over and over, showing only about 10 reviews, even on recipes that have several hundred reviews

Great recipes but lousy app

The recipes are reliable and generally very good. But the app stinks. In addition to be glitchy, the password reset DOES NOT work: put in the new password, save it, and then attempt to log in and it tells me that email address has not been registered and password is incorrect. Try to re-register after being told that email has not been registered: it tells me that the email has already been claimed. Wrote to app customer service and did not get a reply.

Disappointed doesnt cover it

Am I the only one who cannot get the shopping list to work? Even with latest version? I used this app happily until 2015. What happened to you guys?!?!

Can log in online...but not in this app

I signed up for Epicurious years ago. I can sign in online with my username, but the app only asks for an email address. I dont know what email address I used when I signed up, but so what, I remember my username & password. I know I could spend some time sorting this all out, but screw that. The point of this app was convenience. Come on! Cant I enter my freaking username?

Not what it used to be

I used to swear by Epicurious and used it multiple times daily. What was key to my loyalty was the intelligent and adept reviews. Now the app will only show a few reviews on repeat. So what looks like a much-loved recipe with 168 reviews only has 4-5 actual reviews repeated 168 times. This is ridiculous. Ive emailed Epicurious and received no reply.

Cant use with cellular data anymore?

Epicurious app used to be great. Id go to the grocery store, see fresh eggplant, then use the app to find recipes and ingredients. No more - have to be on WIFI, which isnt always available or convenient. Ill probably delete this app and find a better option.

Shopping list is useless

Downloaded the app so I could make shopping lists from saved recipes. It keeps losing my shopping list, in part or whole.

All Advertised Functionality Broken

I figured it couldnt be as bad as the reviews and I was right - its worse. A big selling point of the app is the ability to scour ingredients from your recipes and add them to your shopping list, which is great, except that according to the app none of the recipes I spent time uploading ACTUALLY have any ingredients, rendering the app useless.

Wha????

This used to be my favorite cooking app. Then it stopped working on my iPad. Then I got a new iPad, but the app is a mess. I click on the recipe in my recipe box, and a completely different recipe comes up. So its worse than useless. I tried using the website, but the ads made me completely insane. I would pay good money for the old app back.

Emails wont stop

I regret ever giving epicurious my email. Ive unsubscribed from their emails like 5 times, giving them 10 days between each time. They never stop.

Lost All Favorites & iPad Still Wont Load

Forced to upgrade to see any recipe. Ipad version still doesnt work... All my favorites disappeared and no, I didnt have them saved to a pay account. Used to love this app. Now super sad....
